Agenda 21 advocates education to disseminate information regarding sustainable development (Jikling, 1994) The United Kingdom's UK Strategy for Sustainable Development crafted in 1994 aimed to raise the awareness of the people through the integration of environmental policies into all aspects of goverment, a shared responsibility between goverment, local authorities, businesses, and non-governmental organizations, (Munton & Collins, 1998) among other provisions in the Strategy. The full-world position is a radical departure from the dominant societal perception of the isolated circular flow of goods and factors of production between firms and households. W o r k i n g f o r s u s t a i n a b i l i t y i n t h e s h r i n k i n g w o r l d Culture is one of the main components of the concept of sustainable development. The need for cultural sustainability arises from the growing awareness of the importance of cultural rights and the preservation of cultural heritage. C U L T U R A L S U S T A I N A B I L I T Y C u l t u r a l I n d i v i d u a l A developed state of mind can result in increasing awareness among communities which will protect and promote cultural diversity vital to universal human rights. With diverse cultures spread across different countries, the effects of globalization need to be imperatively discussed to address the rise of multicultural nations as well as the different issues faced by them.
