Introduction As generation goes by, there are many changes that were expected. There are new inventions, new surroundings, and a more developed technology. The changes that are not only caused by the things around us but also by the people and mostly alarming are the pupils at a very young age. At the age of two, they already have their own phones that make them lazy to study their lessons in class. At this age, almost all the pupils know how to use the computer which is not surprising on our part because of course by the power of technology. They are now bound and committed in playing online games instead of reading books and reviewing their lessons. In this generation, education is one of the most important tool in every person’s desire for successful and contentment. Education is a part of the Filipinos’ culture which is being nurtured. The world has totally changed into a modern one because of the knowledge of the people having education. Modern technology, the trending gadgets and other inventions will not exist if there is no will of education. One example of the pupils having a low comprehension is Jay dela Cruz, twelve years of age, a Grade Six pupil of Panay Norte at the municipality of Magsingal, Ilocos Sur. Instead of reading his books, he’d prefer playing with his schoolmates at their community. As a result of his discouraging act, he has a poor reading comprehension; he can’t read other unfamiliar words for her age. She is now a Grade Six pupil but still, reading has never become her hobby. What can be the solution to this problem of him? Reading plays a very important role in having education. This is a must for its beginners. We read to learn and to acquire knowledge. We read to be able to understand the changes in our surroundings. But the big question is, are we be able to learn and be aware of these changes if in the first place, we are very poor when it comes to understanding of those we are reading? No. We can’t since the core or main purpose of reading is comprehension. Reading will be useless if comprehension will not exist. Reading comprehension is one of the most important components in acquiring education. II. Statement of the Problem The researchers primarily aim to present and discuss about Reading Comprehension. Specifically, it seeks to answer the following questions: 1. What is reading comprehension? 2. Why and how reading comprehension does greatly affects education? 3.
