THEY’RE PLAYING OUR SONG So many films have been elevated to greatness by the unique compositional genius of screen composers like Ennio Morricone, John Williams, Bernard Herrmann, Max Steiner, or Howard Shore. By specifically matching their tonal approach to the themes, pacing and drama, these virtuosos gave life to emotional juxtapositions and syntheses that lifted the art form to unforgettable levels. Other movies just grabbed somebody else’s old song and played it. It is these other films that we salute tonight. Please name the song (and artist) that is heard in each of the following movie scenes. 1.
