There are four widely accepted styles. • Impromptu • Extemporaneous • Manuscript • memorized I M P R O M P T U S T Y L E O R E X T E M P O R A N E O U S S T Y L E It is basically speaking at the spur of moment or delivering a speech without full preparation of formal outline and manuscript. Impromptu speaking occurs when someone is asked to “ to say a few words ” or give a toast on special occasion. M ANUSCRI PT ST YLE It is opposite to impromptu style and therefore details of speech are planned in advance. It is prevalent among politician, chief executive officers and newscasters because the widespread impact of speech on its listeners. However, at times, presenters of manuscript may fail to develop full eye contact. ( speech written words by words and then read out to audience ). For Example :- (i) parliamentary speech M EM ORIZED ST YL E Memorized speech is rehearsed in advance by speaker. Speaker delivers speech without any notes. A memorized speech is effective when speaker engages the audience and maintains eye contact with audience.
