Describe the following concepts in the context of OODBMSs: (i) Objects identity (OID) and attributes. (ii) Methods and messages. (iii) Classes, protocols, and inheritance. (iv) Polymorphism. (20 Marks) b. Object-oriented database management systems (OODBMS) offer many benefits both to the development of Information Systems and also to the efficient running of commercial enterprises. Discuss this statement and give an assessment of the current level of adoption of object-oriented databases. (13 Marks) Q2. The World Wide Web has become tightly integrated with database systems. The merger of Web and database technologies is highly advantageous with regard to the development of robust, reliable, and profitable business Web sites, capable of providing customised services and products to customers. Describe current approaches and challenges to integrating databases and the World Wide Web. (33 marks) Q3. (a) A data warehouse is a type of contemporary database system designed to fulfil decision-support needs. The data warehouse requires extensions to conventional database technology and also a range of application tools for on-line analytical processing (OLAP) and data mining. Discuss the above statement describing OLAP systems, architecture, relational OLAP (ROLAP), and multidimensional OLAP (MOLAP). Use diagrams, where appropriate to support your answer. (18 Marks)
