In what ways do they influence individuals throughout the life course? - Socialization is defined to be the ability to behave according to the norms or what is accepted to be normal in a society; interacting with peer groups especially with people who are mature enough to immerse themselves with social interaction while keeping in touch with what is normal upon the society would greatly increase one’s understanding of the behaviors that they should have, although these would greatly contribute to positive or negative peer influence, or that they could not really grasp the society’s norms but what is only the norms shown to them by those peer groups. 2. Have you ever observed someone experiencing a self-fulfilling prophecy? Explain. If you have not personally observed this, use an example from the media, books, movies, or TV. - A lot of people in my church at the time had experienced a self fulfilling prophecy, or something where false expectations become someone’s behavior, even if it were untrue. The reason to this, if to give an example, is because I had expectations that our pastor at the time was someone who is intent on earning money for himself; this had come true just years later, probably proving my expectations of him. It is like the prophecies we read upon sci fi books or books about greek mythology, where prophecies are a big thing upon them; the longer we avoid or do things to reverse or avoid the prophecy, it would come to us and we would no longer be able to avoid the fate that we have; I think this is how the invisible pull of fate works in this world of ours. 3. Have you ever experienced role strain or role conflict? Describe the different roles and how they were strained or conflicted. How did you resolve this? - I think this was particularly my dilemma when I was a child—or could also be the dilemma of others, where they are children who would like to play outside and never mind the responsibilities they have even if they are young, but parents had already imposed the role of a mature adult upon them such as doing well in school, acting properly, not being given the leeway or the exception to behave differently as we were still children. This was soon resolved when we had multiple talks about how to deal with this, and it eventually disappeared when we grew older, and the times changed, where not having high grades wasn’t considered a failure anymore.
