Alex was a skilled and experienced hunter who had lived in Thailand for many years since he had moved there as a child. He loved that beautiful country and loved exploring its rainforests. There was so much to see and do. The amount of wildlife was really incredible. And Alex had had the pleasure of tracking and hunting many animals there. He did not hunt for sport, of course, but to protect local villages and conserve other animals. It was a job he was good at and one that gave him the opportunity to come face-to-face with some of the wildest, rarest and most extraordinary creatures on the entire planet. His most recent mission took him to protect a small, remote Thai island on the edge of the rainforest. Locals had reported that a tigress was coming out of the trees and getting closer and closer to their homes in search of food. Obviously this could have been a disaster for humans, so the animal had to be taken care of. Alex knew how dangerous they could be. And if the reports were true and this tigress had cubs, then she would be even more dangerous. He would have to proceed very cautiously. Upon arriving in the village, Alex settled in and met the locals. They were very superstitious and gave him all kinds of amulets to take to the jungle for protection. Alex didn’t know if he believed in these things, still, he accepted them gratefully. The first few days he would spend tracking the animal and its babies, finding out their routine, where they lived, what they did, and so on. It didn’t take long for Alex to find the animals. They were only a few hundred meters away in the forest, in a small clearing. Alex set up camp far enough away to watch them, and as he did so, the puppies were frolicking and running. They were adorable, but he also knew how dangerous they could be. So he kept his distance. One thing Alex noticed was how thin they were. It was as if they hadn’t eaten well for a long time. The man frowned and took a closer look with the binoculars. He could see their ribs through their fur, an unmistakable sign that these animals were hungry. No wonder they had ventured into the village in search of food. Thinking quickly, Alex opened his backpack and took out some food. I had enough for several days, but I couldn’t leave the Tigress and her babies so hungry. So he got as close as he could to the animals and dumped everything on the ground. There wasn’t much, but enough for the tigress and cubs to enjoy a much-needed little snack. Smelling it, the tigress got up and approached olympically and cautiously. But Alex backed away respecting his space. When they got to the food, the felines devoured them. It was clear that it was a welcome meal. The tigress then looked up from the crumbs that had remained. He looked Alex in the eye and turned his back to him, returning to his place. Alex thought it was a rather unusual act. He was sure that the feline would start kicking him out and he would have to quickly retreat to the village, but in fact, that did not happen. It was certainly unusual. Still, the man was glad that the animal and its cubs had eaten and returned to the village for more provisions. The next time, however, he returned with the body of an entire boar in tow. Again, he left the appetizing food as close to the tigress as he could and watched as she and her babies gobbled it up. It was a really special show, and it felt good to have provided them with what they so desperately need. This lasted for several weeks. Every day or two, Alex brought food to the animals that gobbled it up as soon as it arrived. It was like if they had accustomed to his presence. Even so, the human kept a fairly cautious distance. He was still aware of the danger of tigers and how they could easily kill a human and again. He saw the tigress and her little ones getting healthier and stronger. He couldn’t even see their ribs through their fur anymore. But one day something happened that could have meant the end of Alex. He brought them the body of a small deer that the villagers had hunted the day before and placed it in the usual day. But today there was something different. The feline looked nervous, and the cubs were nearby, not running or playing as usual. Walking away to relative safety, Alex observed that none showed interest in food, and that’s when he heard a noise very close to him. Turning slowly, he saw a big male tiger. Panicked, Alex ran instinctively. He knew it wasn’t logical but couldn’t hold back. The tigress and cubs dispersed while the male tiger pounced on Alex. He fell to the ground hard when the tiger landed on him. He felt his ankle twisting and creaking. It was clear that he had broken it. He closed his eyes waiting for the killing blow. But the tigress pounced on the male and gave him a slap that made him flee back into the jungle. The man was glad to be alive, although he felt immense pain. She couldn’t move, and she knew that if she did, the tigress would snack on him. He felt blood flowing from his wound and prayed that someone would save him, but the chances were slim. The village was too far away and there was no one to help him. However, what happened next was a miracle. Alex wouldn’t have believed it even in his wildest dream. The tigress grabbed Alex by the neck and started dragging him. He was sure that this was his end and that he was going to be eaten alive. He had no idea where he was being taken, but he knew enough not to get agitated or make noise. This could anger the tigress and cause her to attack you much earlier. Understandably, he was terrified and silently prayed that it would all end quickly and painlessly. But that’s when Alex realized something surprising. The trees began to clear up and in the distance he could hear a noise.
