Brain cells die when they no longer receive oxygen and nutrients from the blood, or if there is sudden bleeding in or around the brain WHAT IS IT ? What are the symptoms of a stroke? Sudden numbness or weakness of the face, arm, or leg (especially on one side of the body) Sudden confusion, trouble speaking or understanding speech Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes Sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination Sudden severe headache with no known cause -What causes a stroke? A stroke is caused by an artery in the brain that ruptures or becomes clogged, depriving the brain of oxygen-rich blood. When an artery in the brain is blocked by a blood clot, it is called an ischemic stroke. A ruptured artery in the brain is known as a hemorrhagic stroke or cerebral aneurysm.
