Two educational activities designed to help children learn english vocabulary and grammar structures. The first activity, 'memory', involves students matching animal cards and painting pictures, while the second activity, 'song', has them listening and singing a song. Both activities promote listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, as well as a participative and active attitude.

ACTIVITY 1: MEMORY 4- CONTENTS In this activity children is going to work grammar structure of “this is a…”. Students say this construction when they get a pair of cards, one of them with a picture and other with the name of the animal of the picture. If there are difficult words that students don’t know their pronunciation, teacher helps them with the phonetic transcription. In this activity, students are going to work memory, too. Because they don’t have to forget the position of the cards for they can be pairs of cards. Students are going to work plastic arts because they must paint the picture of the animal, to pass be again the words and cut de cards. Function of this activity is expressive because ????? sergi ompleu????? And recreational because students learning vocabulary with the game. 5- TIME SEQUENCE The total time to do the activity is two hours (two sessions). In the first session, teacher explains to students the unit of animals through questions. Example: - Have you got a dog in your house? At the same session, the students organize themselves in small groups of 5 students each group. Each group have got ten cards (two cards for student). In the second session, the first 40 minutes, students paint and cut the cards. Finally, in 20 minutes they should play with the memory. 6- SKILLS In this activity students are going to work all skills: 1. Listening: in the first session when the teacher explains the unit of animals. 2. Speaking: in the first session, too, when teacher ask to students and they answer. 3. Reading: when students make the cards and when they play because they have to read the name of the animal. 4. Writing: when students make the name of the animal to the cards. 7- ATTITUDES Students have to be an active and participative attitude. It has to be participative at the beginning of the class where students have to speak about themselves, and it has to be active to the speaking and to play with the game. It is necessary to motivate the students so that they know it that it would be possible learn by playing. 8- CROSSCURRICULAR ACTIVITY. OTHER DISCIPLINES 9- INTERACTION In this activity there are two kinds of interaction. The first one is between teacher and pupil, because they have to speak in the first part of the class, and the second one is between all the group, because they have to made the card of the game and then they play with it. 10- MATERIALS NEEDED The materials that students need to made the game are: • Crayons • Scissors • Pencil When “memory” will be finish, it can be useful for all the class, because they can use it like a material for the class to play when they have got free time. It would be possible to do a “memory” for each English topic, and in this way they will have some games to review the contents. 11- EVALUATION At the end of the class, the teacher will ask with a photo which animal is, and he will realize if students have learned the contents about animals. ACTIVITY 2: SONG This activity consists to do a crossword looking at the picture of the animal to know which noun of animal have to write in the squares. At the same time children are practicing grammar. 4- CONTENT Grammatical structures practiced. In this activity children is going to practice the grammatical structure of “this is a…” Vocabulary practiced. Nouns of the animals that we spoke before. Pronunciation. For each animal. For example lion is / laion /. Functions. In this activity is working descriptive and informative functions. Descriptive because children have to know the characteristics of each animal to guess them. And informative because they are receiving information of them continuously. 5- TIME SEQUENCE Is it a lesson to be carried out in just one session? Yes, it is. This lesson can also be done in thirty or forty minutes. How many sessions are needed? We only need one session to do it. How long does each activity take? The group estimate more or less twenty minutes to do the grammatical structure and put the name of the correct animal in the bracket. And fifty minutes more to make the crossword. Any follow-ups? Teacher has to explain the activity for their students. He has to show them how to do it correctly. They have to put the name of the correct animal in the correct bracket. To help children, the activity has a picture of each animal before the phrases. Any homework? No, it isn’t. 6- SKILLS In the crossword children is going to practice two skills. They are reading and writing. Reading because they have to read the grammatical structure and the name of the animals. And writing because the have to write the name of the animals in the brackets and in the squares of the crossword. Are they integrated? Yes, it is. These skills are integrated throughout the activity. 7- ATTITUDES In this exercise the student doesn’t have to be so motivated because the activity for itself is also motivated. They only have to take an allow attitude to work correctly. 8- CROSSCURRICULAR ACTIVITY. OTHER DISCIPLINES In this activity, like in the others, students are working different disciplines at the same time. One of them is Biology, because they are studying the characteristics of each animal. And the each other is language. They are learning how to write and say the name of an animal in a different language of they mother tongue. 9- INTERACTION In this case, student interacts with himself to do it alone, and he interacts with a partner when they are comparing results of the exercise. 10- MATERIALS NEEDED To do this activity we have to need: • The crossword • The pictures. • The grammar structure phrases. • Squares of the crossword. • Pencil and rubber. • Paper 11- EVALUATION Teacher evaluates students at the same time that they are doing the activity.
