The  american part wants to eat out the other but the cuban wants to still be in touch with her  ancestry and cuban culture.  language: its almost used as a third character. Depending in which language she speaks  she is more rational (english) or passionate (spanish). But in some point both excgange the  languages.  Diglossia: where in a country there is more than one language one is more important than  the other. One is more official or preferred but the other is for the folclore and stuff.  Language: The play is performed in two languages. The spanish part probably is  intentionally trying to make feel strange or as they are missing something out to the  non-bilingual ppl. Probably to reflect how ppl feel when they get to the states for the first  time and they don't speak english ad can't understand.   Motifs:   1. Map: The way to find herself. To lose the map is to lose the opportunity to make the  two parts of themselves cohere.   2. Mirror: Identity crisis. Difference between the outside and the inside. Brings back  the isolation.    1
