Diagnosis given by the doctor: ● Tricompartmental osteoarthritis of the left knee, confirmed by X-ray showing medial joint space narrowing. 3. Surgical procedure performed and implants used: ● Custom left total knee arthroplasty was performed. ● Custom implants were used, including a custom femoral implant with a custom tibial tray, 8-mm polyethylene insert, and custom 32-mm x 6-mm patellar implant. 4. Risks and benefits of the procedure: ● Risks: ● Potential complications associated with surgery, such as infection, bleeding, blood clots, and anesthesia-related risks. ● Risks specific to knee arthroplasty, including implant loosening, wear, and instability. ● Benefits: ● Relief from debilitating knee pain and improvement in quality of life. ● Restoration of knee function and mobility, allowing the patient to return to daily activities and work. 5. Patient's recovery process: ● The patient was mobilized on the same day of surgery and was able to walk 150 feet with support. ● Pain was well controlled with medications. ● Stable vitals and regular diet during the postoperative period. ● Discharged on postoperative day 1 with wound care instructions. ● Follow-up visits showed full range of motion without discomfort. ● Sutures were removed on postoperative day 14 without complications. ● At the 3-month follow-up, the patient reported no pain and had returned to work and baseline activities. 6. Measures taken to prevent postoperative complications: ● Mobilization on the same day of surgery to prevent complications associated with immobility. ● Deep vein thrombosis prophylaxis with aspirin.
