Goals: 1.1The student relates the organs of the circulatory system with their corresponding functions. 1.2 The student recognizes and classifies the types of blood cells and blood vessels. 1.3 The student describes general features of human circulatory system. 1. Consider the information studied in class and enclose from the list those that correspond to features of systems. Can have maximum one component. Its components have specific functions. Can be only organ systems. All the system should perform one specific function. The components most have different functions. 2. Use lines of different colors to match each organ with its corresponding function. Arteries Veins Capillaries Heart • Transport deoxygenated blood from the heart to the lungs. • Pumps blood throughout the blood vessels. • Transport oxygenated blood from the heart to the body. • Allow the substances exchange with the cells. 3. Safia is looking at a sample of blood under the microscope, this is what she sees. This blood sample looks different to the sample from a healthy person. Describe how the blood sample from a person recovering from an infection looks different. Explain your answer. ________________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________ (c) Blood cells are transported in a liquid. (i) Write down the name of this liquid. ________________________________________ (ii) Write down one function of this liquid. __________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________ 4. Read the information about the diagram and complete the chart. Biggest blood vessel of the body. Only artery that carries deoxygenated blood. Only vein that carries oxygenated blood. Veins that collect deoxygenated blood from the body Heart, muscular structure formed by three different layers: PERICARDIUM: Outer and thinnest layer. MYOCARDIUM: middle and thicker layer made of muscle. ENDOCARDIUM: Inner layer that forms the chambers of the heart. The blood of the body is collected by the inferior and superior cava veins and taken to the right side of the heart that pump it through the pulmonary artery to the lungs. After the gas exchange, the blood is collected from the lungs by the pulmonary vein and pumped to the body through the aorta which is the biggest blood vessel of the body.
