Natalia Rojas Otero Cultural identity The importance of culture is that it is something unique about human beings that makes us the same, although the existence of several also makes us different. The influence of culture is given to unite groups of people by their similar tastes. It can influence from different things such as where we were born, musical tastes, conditions around us, etc. Cultural identity servers for a person to feel proud and belonging to a culture where there are values, traditions and beliefs that comprise it, although not everyone within the same group thinks in the same way, which is why multidiversity is generated where there may be groups with some differences to the general identity group. In the video it’s observed how when being involved in another culture one can forget those things of a culture inherited by the family. Something that really shouldn’t happen because if positive things from both are integrated, hybrid cultures arise that are very rich due to the content of various cultures. Another thing that stands out from the video is how we want to belong to a culture because someone we admire is from that culture or because we feel different doing our own customs, this is something negative because as customs are changed in a group those of their own are left that brought positive things with them. It can also be realized that cultural enrichment currently has a greater possibility of taking place because we are exposed to the media where, as in the video, in which can be shown a culture like those that are related to this. That is why it is important to recognize details of our cultural heritage before trying to fit into another because our heritage manages to be able to feel identified and develop our own identity.
