On all the other floors lived very strange people and some of them warned Coraline not to go near the well by the house, and they also gave her a stone with a hole in it for protection. In addition to her neighbours, Coraline noticed a black cat that followed her around outside the house. Inside her own apartment, Coraline found a locked door at the corner of a room. One day, when Coraline’s parents were out, she opened that door. A dark hallway appeared on the other side. She walked down and realized that she was in a flat that looked almost exactly like her own one. Suddenly, Coraline heart a voice and she finally found two people, identically the same as they were her real parents. After she had been exploring all the flats, she realised that all the building was identical to the real one. Suddenly her other parents told her she could stay forever there but only if she agreed to worn button eyes. Coraline, horrified, runs back to her own flat, and once she arrived, the brick wall reappears behind her. That night, Coraline’s parents did not return home, and they never arrived. The black cat leaded Coraline to a mirror. She saw her real parents reflected there and they were asking for help. Coraline called the police, but didn´t believe her, so then, sure that the “other” mother had her real parents, Coraline went back through the locked door to the other flat.
