Task 1a Step 1: Create your profile 1. Go to the GDrive space in the aula and open the folder “CA2 Friends and social networks”. Open the subfolder called “CA2 Task1”. 2. Create a new Google document in this subfolder. Make sure to save it with your own name and surname. 3. You can download the GDriveTips_Students file to help you with these steps. You do not need to share the file with your teacher. Step 2 – Write your profile 1. In this subfolder you will find the pdf file (CA2 Template_Example). Copy the text from the CA2_Template and paste it on the Google doc you have created. 2. Fill in the text to write your social network profile. You have the file Oliver Lever as an example. • Use your imagination! Add the information you would write on a real social network profile: -Who are you? -What do you like to do? -What are you interested in? • Share additional information about yourself with your classmates. • Add pictures, videos, links, etc. to individualize your profile. • You don’t have to tell the truth – you can invent your own personality! Study Part 1 of Friends and social networks •G iv ing in for m at ion •T alk in g ab out past ex per iences •A sking and answ er ing quest ions about the past Task 1a: Write your own profile for a social network in the GDrive Task 1b: Read students' profiles and write questions for at least two students Task 1c: Answer the questions your classmates ask you B1 English 5 Make sure to complete the exercises 01.01.04, 01.01.05, 01.02.06, 01.02.08, 02.01.06 and 02.03.07 from the online ‘Friends and social networks’ unit, where you will practice the pronunciation of useful words for the task. Friends and social networks Your video should be about 1 minute long. 3. Send your video to Langblog. Task 2b 1. Listen to the other students’ recordings. 2. Respond with a video to at least two students. Agree or disagree with what they say and explain why. Your reply to your classmates should be about 30 seconds long. Use the useful language for agreeing and disagreeing and for expressing pros and cons. Assessment for Task 2 • Do not read. • Prepare notes and practise before sending your message. • Try to use functions and vocabulary from this unit. • You can check the pronunciation of words or expressions you don’t know well at https://www.howjsay.com/ If you read, you will receive a lower mark. B1 English 6 Assessment criteria for Task 2 Marks Task completion: completion of the task, length, effective communication, extra tasks and optional work 0 – 5 Intelligibility, pronunciation, intonation: quality of contribution, clarity, natural intonation 0 – 5 Fluency, cohesion and coherence 0 – 5 Language complexity and accuracy: variety and accurate use of vocabulary and grammar 0 – 5 Total mark __/20 Optional Speaking Task (3rd – 7th October) The extra speaking task is a TANDEM activity. Read the instructions in this document to know how Tandem works: Tandem Task Instructions_Students. Your teacher will post further details about it on the Notice Board. 1. Find a partner. You and your partner must be available at the same time and day. You should use the ‘Conversation Club’ folder in the Forum in order to look for a partner. 2. Arrange a date and time for your Tandem optional task. 3. Do the Tandem task that your teacher will have prepared. 4. Remember that the Tandem tool will open 2 tabs in your browser: A Tandem session that will show the Tandem task information and a Videochat session that will video record the conversation with your partner. 5. Once you and your partner reach the end of the Tandem task, check the solution and click ‘Click to finish’. Then, click ‘Click here to close the Videochat session’. 6. Your conversation will be recorded automatically and your teacher will have direct access to it. Post a message in the ‘Conversation Club’ folder letting your teacher know that you completed a task.
