In the beginning: First of all 7. Place or region: Country 1. Do people in Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa speak the same language?  Yes, they do. There are some differences in the way they speak and write, but it is still being the same language. 2. What is the mother tongue in these countries?  The mother tongue is English, is a West Germanic language that arose in the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms of England 3. In how many ways is English different from one country to another?  There are many differences, the first is the accent, each country has its own accent, but in each country there are different accents like those of the south or the accents of the north. The second difference is the spelling of some words, like color and colour, or theater and theatre. And a third difference is that some of the words are not the same at all like chips and fries the way of write is different but both mean the same. 4. Do people in these countries use different words to describe the same object?  Yes, they do. Americans say restroom, Canadians say washroom, and the British say water closet. But all these words have the same meaning, it is the room where the toilet is located. Another example is: British say Petrol and Americans say Gas or gasoline
