According to the Cambridge dictionary green energies are those who can be produced in a way that protects the natural environment, for example by using wind, water, or sun. Despite the fact that the Spanish government has imposed a tax to people who try to use sun energy to domestic use (the sun tax), Spain as a territory has great opportunities to use renewable energies because of the characteristics of his Mediterranean climate: sunny, windy and all surrounded by water. Therefore, this paper claims that green energies are positive in today´s society because it promotes job creation and a large improvement of the environment´s quality. During the last few years green energies have been creating a large number of new jobs, according to the International Agency of Renewable Energies (IRENA) jobs in the sector have increased 5.7%, for a total of 10.3 million people employed worldwide, of this quantity the 9% belongs to solar photovoltaic industry and 5% to wind power industry. Furthermore, the green energies industry has become a pillar of low carbon economic growth for governments all over the world, affirm Adnan Z. Amin director of the International Renewable Energy Agency, with a very positive impact on the economy, the society and the quality of the environment. The quality of the environment will be notably increased by the use of the natural resource´s energy like wind power, solar power, geothermal energy or biomass electricity substituting harmful fossil fuel combustion and mitigating problems as the emissions of carbon dioxide, global warming, wildlife and habitat loss and damage to public health. Moreover, studies of the Association of Companies of Renewable Energies (APPA) explain that the use of green energies in Spain have supposed the 15% for the total consume of energy, avoiding the importation of twenty million tons of petroleum, saving 5.989 million euros and the emission of millions of kilos of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere. Thus, green energies leads to a better future to our environment. In conclusion, an improvement of the economical situation and the level of contamination of the environment are possible with the application of new ways of energy. Therefore, governments should investigate all the possibilities to take advantage of this recent opportunity. In any case, a new era is starting due to the fact that renewable energies are becoming the engine of the future economy.
