A process essay explains in detail how something is carried out. The more interesting essays also include relevant information on the context of the process. In other words, it explains why it is important, how it is useful, and what the benefits and limitations are. It is very important to think of the audience that is going to read your text so as to be able to use the appropriate language, register and style. How is a Process essay organised? There are different ways of organising a process essay. However, a chronological order is the most commonly found. This order is not only easier for the reader to follow but also for the writer to develop his/her ideas. The body paragraphs will be organised according to the number of steps and the complexity of each step involved. Sometimes each body paragraph focuses on one single step whereas others some steps are included within the same paragraph. Other factors, such as the length of the essay will need to be taken into account when deciding how many paragraphs to include. Structure: The introduction First step/group of steps. Second step/group of steps. Third step/group of steps. The conclusion Examples: A Happy Life: (from https://edtechbooks.org/academic_a_writing/) People are always searching for things that make them happy. For example, many people work very hard to improve their employment because they want to find a better job to make themselves happy. Other people search for happiness by purchasing things they want. However, many people do not understand that lasting happiness does not depend on having certain things. There are things that people can do to live a happy life regardless of their situation. In order to live a happy life, people should build relationships, be grateful, and help others. The first thing that people should do to live a happy life is build relationships with other people (Sanders, 2019). Building relationships can include both making new friends and strengthening relationships that already exist with friends and family
