So many of them share their videos with us, but really, what is so unique about what they have to offer? Below are the links to four YouTube channels of some well-known chefs, from various countries. Choose ONE of these YouTube channels and then watch ONE of their videos. Then write us a review of 150-200 words of the video you decide to watch. • Nigella Lawson (United Kingdom): https://www.youtube.com/c/NigellaLawsonChannelLinks to an external site. • Tre Wilcox (U.S.A): https://www.youtube.com/c/trewilcoxvideos/featuredLinks to an external site. • Marion Grasby (Thai/Australian): https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCN1h109PDDp_wYIFs oWmZrQLinks to an external site. • J. Kenji López-Alt (U.S.A): https://www.youtube.com/@JKenjiLopezAltLinks to an external site. In your review you need to: • give the review a catchy title • give examples of what is discussed or made in the video • say what the style of the chef is and how they communicate with the audience (how unique are they?) • say why you love or hate the video • say who you would recommend the video to and why Your review must also include the YouTube link to the video you write about. The best reviews will be published on our webpage! Write 150-200 words and add the word count at the end of the review. Post your review to Task 3.2 CA3 and to CA3 Writing submission. NB: If you do not upload your writing to CA3 Writing submission, you will get a 0 for this task. Use the Review plan tips example document below to help you write your review and read others critically. The example review will show you the appropriate paragraph structure starting with an introduction, the main points (in 2 paragraphs) and then end with a conclusion in which you can give your own opinion and recommendations. You’ll also see the appropriate language style (more formal) for a review and some linking words / expressions to help the reader follow your argument. You can use example essay plan below for this. Catchy Title Birthday cupcakes Versace would be proud of! Introduction Describe the chef and say what video you are going to review from their channel and why Paragraph 2 Give examples of what is discussed or made in the video, making reference to the visual aspects of the video and what you feel when watching it. Paragraph 3 What is the style of the chef in the video? How do they communicate with the audience (how unique are they?) Conclusion Summary, personal opinions (how could the video be improved?) and recommendations. Post-task 3.2 1. Error correction Complete the Error Correction exercise your teacher posts to the classroom. The errors in this exercise are common errors students often make at this level. 2. Q & A Read at least two of your classmates’ reviews in Task 3.2 CA3 and ask them a question about what you’ve read. You can ask questions about the content of their review or ask them to clarify something you didn’t understand. Don’t forget to read your classmates’ questions and reply to them. CA3 Assessment CA3 represents 10% of the Final CA mark. Note that you must pass both the writing and speaking tasks in order to pass this CA. 50% of the mark for CA3 will be based on your pair work speaking for Task 3.1 using these criteria: • Completion of Task 3.1 (Did you interact spontaneously with your partner?) • Ability to express yourself • Effective communication strategies: turn-taking, checking, clarifying, negotiating, etc. • Natural intonation • Use of grammar, vocabulary and expressions from the unit For more details, see the Marking criteria spoken interaction document attached below. 50% of the mark for CA3 will be based on your work for Task 3.2 using these criteria: • Completion of Task 3.2 (Did you follow the criteria for writing a Review in the Task instructions?) • Use of grammar, vocabulary and expressions from the unit • Organisation of the text into sentences and paragraphs For more details, see the Marking criteria individual writing document attached below.
