First he tried to convince his daughter to leave him to the mortal prince, because it was not good for a Goddess. But his request was in vain and the two young men got married. So great was the rage felt by the supreme god, Inti, that he cursed this relationship and condemned them to eternity to live separated …. He turned the young people into two great granite mountains, which rose to the top so that they can be seen, but never touched. The lovers cried so much their pain that their tears became a beautiful turquoise blue lake called "Llanganuco". The mountains that bear the name of the princes Huandoy and Huascarán, have an altitude of 6,560 meters and 6,768 meters, are the highest mountains in the valley and in the entire country.
