Elderly often don't see a bene t from using technology, like health-tracking. Even thou it could prevent many incidences in advance. By just having an eye on the most important health data, e.g. blood pressure, puls or temperature, doctors or relatives could easily see how their parents or grandparent's state of healthiness is developing. LUCIE is a playful approach, to get elderlies, even ones with heavy dementia to track their health. Because she is a robot, she has personality. She reminds you, when it is time for tracking. You just let her crawl up your hand, arm or leg and play with her like you would do with snail oder caterpillar. While playing with LUCIE, her sensors underneath the body do their work and send the data to an application, so doctors or relatives can check on the elderly. Thus, LUCIE does not only provide safer elderly-care, but is also a companion for them, to spend some lonely minutes with. Through her single eye, which gives the body a direction, LUCIE communicates with the user, by rolling or blinking, or closing it, when she is turned o . That gives her the feeling of personality and makes her look cute and trustworthy. To stick to the persons body, she is equipped with a foot, that is inspired by the movement of snails, which can stick to any surface and is very e cient. She slowly crawls her way upwards, by moving the feet in a wave-like motion. LUCIEs components exist of her aluminum body, a bio-3D printed Snailfeet and di erent types of sensors, battery, processor, bluetooth connection, led lights and an OLED-screen for the eye. With this design, I hope to show, that robots can be way more that just dump machines, that take on our daily tasks so we can lean back and get even more lazy. Robots can really enhance our lives, rather then making them just easier. Thank You!
