Mariana Brijaldo, Geronimo Galeano-9ª Our cartoon “The Colombian dream” makes a parody of the called American dream, and represents the mass migration from the countryside to the city that occurred during the industrial revolution caused by urbanization. The businesses and factories behind the industrial revolution were located in the nation’s towns and cities so the rural families were moving to the city looking for better job and life opportunities. Urbanization had an impact on the daily life of people who had come from a self-sustaining life at the farms, to a large city that was responding with the creation of more industry. This caused several effects on the environment as the industrial revolution was the beginning of the linear economy in serie. This had long term effects that we are seeing today, just because at the time they didn’t care about the effects they were causing or the enormous quantity of waste the productive processes were creating and the pollution produced by the factories, the cars, and the bad management of the resources. The grand migration also caused that the cities started to be overpopulated, the population was rapidly increasing so it created a high demand for the need of essential items to enable the population to survive and forced the poorest ones to crow into tiny houses with bad conditions.
