A genre can be defined as a recurrent configuration of meanings and a culture is a system of genres. Genres are the systems of meanings in which a communication process can be framed, the different communication “styles”. Each gender has their own codes that are recognized and accepted for all the society. It has a hard sociocultural component due to the meanings of tinghs, actions and traditions are configured by the society interpretations, and are mutual reinforced by the aplication they do of them. We know which kind of genre we have to use in every situation, depend on the characteristics of it. For exemple, in a group of friend we use a more coloquial vocabulary, we make jokes, we say hello wich two kisses… At work, we use a more formal vacabulary, we have a more correct body possition, we call people by his shurname… The situaty is what defines the gender we use, it means the words, body gestures, relations, etc. we use. Genres are also important in our society and in our culture because they work as a class distinctive. For example, Apple has a different style of communication of Windows, and we all can recognize their advertising even the logo doesn’t appear thanks to their visual and linguistically caracteristiques. We can say that each brand has created their own genre, that is interpretated at the same way by the society. At the same time, genres are important for the society because we select wich one use in our comunication depend of how we want to look like in front of the society, the image we want to share. Examples: the patorns we use to writte a formal email, a whatsap message. The diferences on the vocabulay, body expresions, lenjuage tone, etc. we use depend if we are speaking to our parents, friends or teachers… 2. What is “multymodality”? What are “clusters”? Multynmodality refers to the combination of diferent types of meaning making elements in a text. They can be visual, verbal, corporal, etc. The general meaning of the text is configured buy the interconnection between the different modes of communication and how they are used as a whole. Clusters are the different communication elements you can find in a text, that can be visual, verbal, etc. The combination of their interpretations bring the meaning
