FEMINISM IS NOT CHAUVINISM Introduction The aim of this report is to provide information about how women feel nowadays. As Dictionary Word Reference says, feminism is a doctrine advocating social, political and economic rights for women equal to those men. Actually, what is feminism? It is known that the figure of women have changed from how it used to be some years ago. Woman have fought for their rights and they did it because they were in an awful situation. Moreover, there is a mistaken conception of what is feminism. There are a huge quantity of people who think of this concept as chauvinism but from women, they see it as something stupid because think that the main reason is that women want to be better than men. However, what women are really trying to do is to make them conscious of the real value of the word. The ones who have misunderstood it should learn the correct significate of feminism to help the ones who are suffering just for being a women. Nowadays problems It is true that we live in an unequal society, where men are in higher positions that women. Furthermore, as preparation for this report, 1 interviewed a cross-section of women in the street. Most of them agreed on being paid less than men working in the same fields, receiving different awards in sports or even feeling undervalued by some men. In addition there were news about some squash players who won a vibrator and depilatory bands and what men won was money and a trophy. The players claimed that it was an insult for them because they felt ashamed of what they received. Recommendations From my point of view, it would be an amazing idea to begin to teach in schools and universities how to treat women and be more emphatic with them. They should be taught to learn about the inequality women used to live every day and make teenagers conscious that they are the ones who can change the situation in our current life.
