Echoes Astronaut Mark Watney is left alone on Mars when an explosion forces his crewmates to abandon the planet, leaving Mark Watney due to the belief that he has deceased. Alone on the red planet, he has to survive until the next mission to Mars arrives. While this novel is fiction, in some ways it feels like non-fiction. lt is very scientific and packed with details about survival on Mars. Watney is a botanist and engineer, and he begins to grow food and produce water in his artificial camp. The whole movie takes a lot of scientific considerations to make sense over the plot, but ignoring the real psychological impact of being alone in space should be as much important as ignoring completely the science in this science fiction movie. The first scenes show a bit of the work that is done in mission Ares 3. This frames use some humour and sarcasm to try to make emphasis on how simple and “useless” can be the tasks done on this missions. This bit of comedy and humor between the crewmates also allows to introduce individually each character, also allowing to know a few about how the crew interacts itself and how they relate between each other. The constant use of humor in this sequence allows the viewer to be acknowledged about the current situation of the characters and also guiding the viewer into a state of confidence and tranquility, both of this atthe same time. When a plot twist occurs and the storm approaches to the crew, it is also another resource to show how the crew interact between each other, but in this case, in a completely different situation. The team shows to the viewer that despite the pressure they are forced to deal with, they can overcome to this situations due to the fact that they know how to work as a team and they follow orders without considerably questioning the indications. Once they departure, the crew that was able to leave Mars, seemed to be overwhelmed, which just reinforces the feeling of guilt and sadness that the viewer receives from the fact that Mark Watney deceased. Once Mark Watney recovers and turns his injury into a successful surgery, he seems to be aware of his condition and decides to record some videos as a binnacle for his stay in HABITAT. Once he shows he ¡is able to overcome the injury and that he is being sensible regarding his situation, the characters transmits some confidence regarding the capability of himself to overcome these first instants of abandonment. One very helpful resource are his mate's properties that were left by their owners. Mark looks and an analyzes them and this could make him think that he would end just like that, as a left propertie. After this sequence, he seems determined to not be left and die there. This statement just reinforces the idea of perceiving confidence from Mark and his capability of overcoming adversity. After a mental enlightenment, Mark thinks about a way to survive, by rationalizing food and developing an idea to cultivate his own food. The melody and the speed of the frames in this sequence works as a resource to reaffirm the proactivity and dynamicity of Mark. One thing to take in consideration in the future is one specific frame of this sequence. Once the dialogue “Staple came out" has passed, the following frame shows the current Solar Day along with a particular noise. This noise is just a single note played, which reminds of the very first seconds of “Echoes” from Pink Floyd. This specific sound will be taken in consideration for analysis further in the text. After some work, doing reestablishment of the situation and almost one month after abandonment, one person could start struggling with the issues of being abandoned in a different planet, without any promise of being rescued or even live longer on Mars. But for some reason Mark has not showed any consequence of this factors and, despite, the movie Uses a plant as a source for us to have a symbol and relate the inexplicable hope of Mark with the plant, which means that Mark plan is doing well. After this precise sequence, the movie tries to show as much as possible the situation of Mark and how some things may get complicated and also how other things work out (without any specific explanation or reason to be) as a resource to justify the patience
