Her son, Prince Hamlet, is in college while this is happening but soon goes to see his mother (Queen Gertrude), who will decide to marry her late husband's brother (Claudius) within two months of the death of the former King. Hamlet does not approve of his decision so he decides not to go to the wedding and wear black to show his mourning. Now, Hamlet is more reserved, so much so that in the first meeting of the King he positions himself in a corner and avoids listening to his uncle. The King began the speech by remembering his brother. He immediately avoided the subject, going to the grain. Prince Fortinbras of Norway threatens to attack Denmark if they do not return the lands that the old King took from his father. Claudius writes a letter to the King of Norway and those responsible for delivering it are Cornelius and Voltemand. Laertes, son of Polonius (Lord Chamberlain) asks the King to return to France to continue his education; gives him permission to leave. Finally the King tells Hamlet that he sees himself as a miserable man and that there is no need to continue in mourning. Claudius and Gertrude don't want him back in Wittenberg. Hamlet agrees not to go back to college. When everyone leaves he is left alone with his thoughts, saying that life no longer has any meaning. Suddenly his friend from college appears, Horatio with whom they will be talking for a while about how wonderful and fantastic his father was. Suddenly Horatio tells him that he saw his father the other night. Horatio accompanies Hamlet to see the ghost that the guards taught him. Indeed, at 12:00 the ghost of the old king appeared who wanted to speak alone with Hamlet asking him to put a person responsible for his death. The former king explains to his son what really happened: Claudius poisoned his brother because he was in love with his wife and wanted his kingdom. CHAPTER 2 Laertes has always felt uncomfortable in the castle, he really wanted to go back to France. Polonius was a good father but he wanted his children to be submissive, although out of love for them, he let Laertes walk away. Before leaving he went to say goodbye to his sister Ophelia. Ever since her mother died, he has tried to protect her. When he returned from France, Ophelia told him that Hamlet sent her love letters. Ophelia doesn't want Laertes to leave again, they will miss each other so much. Laertes asks Ophelia to stop talking to Hamlet, because he can't decide who his wife will be. Suddenly Polonius arrives, who warns his son that he will lose the ship, but before leaving he stops him to remind him of a few life lessons. When he manages to leave, Polonius reminds her daughter that he has a reputation that cannot be dirty because she wants to talk to Hamlet, he asks her to return all the love letters that she receives. Hamlet is confused, but knows that he must carry out revenge. That can only mean one thing: killing his uncle Claudius, even though he never liked fighting. But there is a problem: he doesn't know if it is true. To find out, he's going to play crazy. Ophelia is worried. Hamlet is a very cold man and Ophelia doesn't understand why, because he was in love with her. Hamlet shows up in Ophelia's room and leaves without saying anything. She notices that he is going crazy because of the way he dresses and acts, so she calls her father. She does not understand why he behaves like this: maybe it is because she returned all the love letters. Polonius decides to go talk to King Claudius. CHAPTER 3 Gertrude and Claudius are worried about Hamlet and decide to help him by inviting his friends from Wittenberg: Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. Therefore, they wrote a letter of invitation and the guests, feeling flattered, immediately went to Elsinore. Claudius welcomes them warmly, explains that Hamlet is unable to cope with death on his part, and asks them to please do something to help him. As they were leaving, Polonius appeared explaining to the king why Hamlet had gone mad. He thinks Hamlet is crazy because Ophelia had returned all the gifts and love letters that she wrote to him, since that was when his behavior changed. Kings believe it may be true. Polonius proposes a plan to discover the truth: Ophelia will go talk to Hamlet while Polonius and Claudius spy on them. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern soon found Hamlet, who was very happy to see them but could not understand why they had dropped out of school to go see him in Dinamarca, what Hamlet considers a prison. He insists that they explain the truth to him of why they are there, in the end, ashamed, they explain everything to him (they want to help him to be better). Hamlet tells them that he is depressed. His friends tell him that there is a theater company outside of him, which encourages him a lot. Hamlet knew all the members so he shook their hands warmly. Hamlet asks him for a sample of a play, he too asked for a performance of a play the next day in private. The company goes to his rooms and Hamlet does so too, frustrated by not knowing how to express feelings, he tells himself that he is a coward because he has not yet killed Claudius, and he paced nervously from one place to another thinking about a plan: as CHAPTER 7 Laertes wants to know why his father has died so he returns from France. The people do not help to know, but they all say that there has been no ceremony. Laertes thinks that Claudius has killed Polonius. He looked for the king. Claudius explains what really happened, so Laertes wants revenge. Suddenly Ophelia appears and tells her to avenge the one who killed her father because he also drove her crazy. Horatio couldn't stop thinking about Hamlet, he thinks he's not crazy. He gets him a letter from Hamlet in which he explains once he finishes reading it he will have to go see King Claudius. In his letter he said that he had been a prisoner on the way to England but had managed to escape and they had not killed him because they needed something from him, so he must deliver the other letters to the king. Claudius continues talking to Laertes and explains why I do not apply revenge: Hamlet is the son of his love and he does not want to lose her. Laertes is going to end his life. The messenger appears who gives him the letter where he says that he will be back. Laertes will have his revenge sooner than expected. Claudius also wants to kill him so they make a plan to make it look like a natural death. They are going to hold a fencing competition where they will poison the celebratory wine and swords. Suddenly Gertrude warns that Ophelia has drowned in the river among her flowers. CHAPTER 8 Ophelia's funeral was the day after her death. Hamlet and Horatio watch as a grave is prepared in the cemetery. Yorick was buried and he was the funniest king. Hamlet and Horatio find out about Ophelia's funeral, which was my quick one and that was the source of Laertes' anger. Hamlet and Laertes fight over why they both wanted her but Laertes wants revenge. Horatio wants to know what happened on the ship. Hamlet explains that his uncle had a plan for the King of England to kill him upon arrival. That was written in a letter that his friends kept but he changed it to another where he indicated that they have to kill Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. Hamlet is notified of the fencing championship. Hamlet wins the first round and to celebrate the king wants him to drink the wine (poisoned) but Hamlet wants another round. The queen drinks this wine without knowing that she had poison. Laertes makes a conrte to Hamlet with the poisoned sword, Hamlet also to him, the reason why they are both poisoned. When Hamlet knows this, he makes the king drink his own poison to kill him. They all end up dead except for Horatio, who before Hamlet dies, asks him not to commit suicide so he can tell the story.
