Democracy is the best form of government. Do you agree or disagree with that statement? Firstly, the representative democracy is one of the main types of government in several countries as a political system. This is highlighted by the public institutional and administrative structure (The State) through a society demanded by their rights and duties as citizens. In other words, the people decide through their vote, who represents them as their President for their country. It’s very important to know the proposal of each political party in order to have very good options for the country in the economic, social, health, education, etc. Moreover, this depends on the normative or rules that each country have for the election of the new representative in their term of office. In Colombia, every four years there is a mandate period. Based on the previous paragraph, they emphasize that representative democratic systems, such as parliamentary and presidential systems of government, are characterized by the fact that the people do not exercise the government directly, but rely on the organs that organize their governmental functions as the branches of power (Legislative Branch, Executive Branch and Judicial Branch). An example of these systems in Great Britain is considered as a parliamentary system of government and the USA as a presidential system of government. On the other hand, in the history of democracy in Colombia about its political systems changes began in 1914 with the election of Jose Vicente Concha, this is known as direct suffrage for the first time since 1860, it is part of popular suffrage, another historical fact of our country was the period from 1958 to 1974 for the election of the maximum president, it is known as the pact of the National Front (between the two traditional parties Liberal and Conservative). This helps us to understand about the democratic historical impact of the 1991 Political Constitution. This means for our country the great constitutional advances and the new implications it brought to the political system, highlighting the mechanisms of popular participation. It is very important to know the historical part of our country to understand how we should vote with respect and conscience, according to your beliefs who represents you as a citizen. in Colombia there have been several changes in their political systems to get to what it is now, that the people can vote freely, without having prejudices. In my opinion democracy is one of the political systems in the world that works in a way that the people decide who makes the decisions for their country that allows them to improve in each sector by means of regulations or bills.
