In the pages of the book we see that Heathcliff lived with a woman and his brother, Hindley, who treated Heathcliff in a very bad way. Loockwood sleeped at Wuthering heights that night. He was sleeping bad and having bad dreams. He woke up to opened the window when suddenly he closed her fingers with a cold hand, it was Cathy, who begged Loockwood to enter, because she had been lost for 20 years in the moors. Heathcliff entered and chased out Loockwood to the room. He began to shout Cathy, darling, come to me. Loockwood returned to Thruscross Grange as fast as he could. When he returned to his house, began to talked with his housekeeper, Nelly Dean, who also worked in Wuthering heights. Every night after dinner, they sat by the fire and talk about that strange family. (Throwback) Nelly Dean began to talk about the family. All began 30 years ago, when she was young. In the family she felt like she was another one and not a servant. Hindley was 14 and Cathy was 6. (were brothers). The father of the childs, Mr. Earnshaw did many travels to Liverpool and always brought presents. In one of these travels, he brought a dirty, black- haired boy, who was poor, as a present. The children and his wife were so spoilt and rude and because their father didn’t brought any present because the gipsy, so they got angry and were bad to the gipsy boy. Mr Earnshaw christened the boy “Heathcliff”, who was the name of a Earnshaw son that died when baby. From the moment Heathcliff entered the Earnshaw family (10th April, 1771) there was trouble. Mr Earnshaw always had prefered Heathcliff that his own son, Hindley. After a few weeks, Cathy and Heathcliff became friends. Whenever they could, they ran to a special place they found on the moors. There were huge stones and looked like an old castle. Mrs Earnshaw was ill and spend most days in bed. She didn’t ever forgave her husband for bringing Heathcliff into the family. Two years after the boy came, she died in her sleep. In contrast to his sister, Hindley never liked Heathcliff. Hindley went to study to a boarding school. 4 years later, Heathcliff grew up and became a strong man, and Heathcliff died. Heathcliff and Cathy were heartbroken. When Hindley returned to his father’s funeral, returned with a wife, Frances, who had one year younger than Hindley, 19. Frances and Cathy got along well, but Hindley hated Heatcliff more than ever. Now he didn’t have compassion, he had the control. Hindley command that Heathcliff must stay only in the kitchen to eat and in the stable to sleep. If he broke the rule, he would be kicked out from Wuthering Heights. Frances was expecting a child. She and Cathy used to go to their room after dinner. The, Cathy and Heathcliff run to their special place in the moors but they returned at 10 o’clock. One night, it was after 11, and they hadn’t come back. They went to Thrushcross Grange, to see Linton’s sitting-room. They heard them and sent their dogs to catch them. One dog bite Cathy’s leg. Linton’s treat Cathy well and invited her to spend there to rest, while Heathcliff was unwelcome and called beggar and gypsy by them. The next morning Linton talked with Hindley about Cathy and said that she must not move untilher foot heals. Also say that he doesn’t want to see anymore Heathcliff around their house. Cathy were at Thrushcross for a few weeks. When she returned, she was dressed better and talked more politely. She became a lady. Later, Heathcliff asked for help to Nelly. He wanted to look like a gentleman for Cathy. When he was combing his hair, Hindley appeared and got angry, locking him into a room. The following summer, Hindley and Frances had a little boy, called Hareton. When the baby was 4 months old, Frances died. It was a terrible shock for Hindley and for all Wuthering Heights. Hindley began to drink and become violent. Nelly was who took care about Hareton, because Hindley didn’t acted like a father would had. He blamed his son for his mother’s death. Hindley continued hating Heathcliff, but needed him on the farm because he was strong and did the work of three man. Linton wanted to see Cathy, but didn’t wanted to bump into Heathcliff, so Nelly accompanied Cathy to Thrushcross Grange. In one of these walks, Heahcliff met them. His face was like thunder. He knew she was visiting Edgar. He was afraid of losing her and also jealous of Linton. He became agressive and moody with the pass of the days. Cathy gived Nelly a big new: Linton wanted to marry her. In her mind he wanted to be the richest women in the district and marry him, but her heart in fact belonged to Heathcliff. Heathcliff listened their conversation and listened that Cathy said that marriying him would degrade her, and went outside. Nelly advises Cathy that her opinion were that she wasn’t ready to get married because she saw how indecisive was the girl. Heathcliff didn’t appear so Cathy went to look for him in the pouring rain. When she returned to house was broken. Cathy fall mentally ill (she began to shout with no sense) and rest in bed. Since the day of the storm, nobody hadn’t seen Heathcliff anymore. While Cathy were recovering, Edgar’s mother often came to vist her. When she was better, Linton suggested to take her to Thrushcross Grange to celebrate his 17th birthday. Thruscross grange had a good effect on Cathy. One day Hindley ordered that Nelly would have to leave Wuthering heights and go to Thrushcross grange with Cathy. Hindley wanted to treat his son as a man and not like Nelly, like a baby. Cathy were more mature now. An epedemic of influenza were the reason of Edgar’s fathers death, so, now Edgar was the master of Thrushcross grange. The 1st June 1783, Cathy and Edgar got married in Gimmerton Church. Edgar was 20 years old and Cathy was 18. They were all happy. One day, nearly a year after the wedding, everything changed. Heathcliff returned. He changed and now looked like a perfect gentleman. Then Heathcliff told Cathy that now he was the owner of Wuthering heights, that he paid all the debts of her brother and let him live there, despiting how cruel were him. Then , Cathy was impressed by how handsome and rich were Heathcliff now. Heathcliff became a regular visitor of the Grange. Isabella, Edgar’s brother, used to accompany Cathy during Heathcliff’s visits, in order of his brother, despiting that Isabella began to be fascinated by Heathcliff. One day, Isabella uncover her worry to the couple: he was in love with Heathcliff. Cathy laughed. Edgar forbid Heathcliff to enter another time to the Grange. Cathy and Nelly advises Isabella to forget Heathcliff, they say that he is a wild men and not a gentleman, and that never could love a Linton. Cathy make fun of Isabela’s love in the presence of Heathcliff (who visited the house when Edgar was at Gimmerton) , so Isabella decides to bit Cathy’s arm. Heathcliff says to Cathy that he won’t hurt Isabella because he doesn’t feel the attraction to do it. A few days later, Nelly saw them kissing each other. Heathcliff returned the next time Edgar was at Gimmerton. Then Cathy reproach Heathcliff why he kissed Isabella, and he answered that he can kiss whoever he want. When Edgar returned, had a fight with Heathcliff. Cathy talked with Nelly. She was madding. She need Heathcliff as a friend. Edgar gived two options to Cathy: or giving up Heathcliff or losing him. She shouted to him that she prefers to stay alone and knocked in her room. She didn’t open the door to anyone nor eat. After three days, Nelly got shocked by the appereance of Cathy. She was ill. Later she got better and expect a baby. Nelly also received a letter from Isabella’s who escaped with Heathcliff. She was repentant of not taking the advises from Cathy and Nelly. She hates being at Wuthering Heights and the poeple there were so unpleasant; always drunked and were crazy. Nelly decided to visit Isabella. When she saw her, was shocked. Her hair was uncombed and her dress dirty. She looked very sad. On the other hand, Heathcliff was more handsome than ever. Heathcliff didn’t love Isabella, his only main marriying her were to have power over Edgar and making Cathy Jealous. Nelly advises him to not going to see Cathy
