Montiel Hernandez Rodrigo Wenceslao 506 A Rattlesnake The rattlesnake can reach up to 1.52 meters Long and have a light weight of 4 kilograms. The rattlesnakes are cold-blooded and rely on outside sources to regulate their body temperature. When they are excessively hot, they move to places where there is shade, and when they are too cold, they will sunbathe or absorb the heat of the asphalt Habitat Rattlesnake is endemic to the American continent, from southeastern Canada to northern Argentina Feeding These snakes are carnivorous, and instead of chewing they swallow everything. They can eat from large lizards to small rodents. They immobilize their prey quickly with their toxic poison, taking the time to swallow it completely. After swallowing, they hide to digest their food and the digestion process can take several days, depending on the size of the prey. Reproduction Rattlesnakes can reach their sexual maturity at 3 years, and from that moment on they can reproduce every 2 or 3 years. They usually mate in spring after finishing their hibernation. The female serpent is passive, while the man crawls on top of it. The male makes strong movements with the back of his body and press his tail below the female to fertilize. The mating process can last many hours, the rattlesnake can carry from 4 to 25 eggs inside, of which at least 10 are born alive. The young usually measure 0.25 meters and have a small cornea button at the tip of their tail, they are equally poisonous but with smaller fangs.
