THE GERMANIC KINGDOMS ¿Which is the relationship between the Germanic kingdom and europe? REMEMBER LAST YEAR: The Roman Empire conquers the entire Mediterranean and Eastern Europe. In the third century, Rome stopped every expansion. And there are economic problems, military problems. It was the fault of the Germans who wanted to invade us. Emperor Theodosius divided the territory between his 2 sons. The west part is for Honory and the east part for Arcadius. The east is called Byzantium and the capital is Constantinople and the capital was Greek The west capital is Rome and the language was latin. The Germanic people wanted to conquested the west because it was a very good territory, because there is farming… IN the 5 century the emperor Romulus Augustus let them in because they stood by the walls and divided up the land. When the germanic people entered they invaded the territory. They formed independent kingdoms - The Angles and Saxons in Britannia - The Ostrogoths in Italy - The Visigoths, Suebi, Vandals and Alans in Iberian Peninsula - The Francs in France The visigoths expel the Vandals, Suebi and Alans All the territory was from Roman times, that's why they accept Roman culture and speak Latin THE RURAL WEST When the Roman empire disappeared, people began to feel insecure. Since there was a new gobern, there were wars and conflicts.THe climate of insecurity is called The lack of Safety. The lack of safety made the trade almost disappear. And that 's why people started working in agriculture (cuando trabajan en agricultura se llaman peasants) and went to the countryside. The peasants depended on wealthy landowners to eat and live. 2
