EMBARRASSED FEET (SHOES) After several days of resistance, the patient reports that she was greatly offended that a young man whom she meets regularly in the vicinity of the doctor's house, and who usually looks at her admiringly, last time cast a look of contempt at her feet. Truly, he has no reason to be ashamed of his feet. She herself provides the solution after confessing that she believed that this young man was the doctor's son; Therefore, as a result of the transfer, she subrogates her brother (older than her). Now she remembers that around the age of five she used to accompany her brother to the bathroom, where she would watch him urinate. Envious of not being able to do it as he once tried to match him by doing the same thing (penis envy), but he got his shoes wet and got terribly angry when his brother made fun of him. This experience, he adds, led to his later behaviour at school. When something did not go well on the first try, he never made up his mind to try it again, so he failed completely in many subjects. A good example of the influence that sexuality, as a paradigm, has on character. Explanation and conclusion: The text relates the case of a patient who was deeply offended because a young man, whom she regularly sees near her doctor's house and who used to look admiringly at her, cast a look of contempt at her feet at their last meeting. Even though there is no real reason for her to be ashamed of her feet, the patient herself provides an explanation by revealing that she believed this young man to be the doctor's son; As a result of the transfer, he equates him with his own older brother. This leads her to recall an early experience where she used to accompany her brother to the bathroom and watch him pee. Moved by the envy of not being able to do the same as him (penis envy), one day she tried to imitate him, but ended up getting her shoes wet and became incredibly angry when her brother made fun of her. This experience marked his later behaviour in school, where he avoided trying something again if he did not succeed the first time, resulting in academic failures. In summary, the text illustrates how early experiences, especially those related to sexuality and family dynamics, can significantly influence a person's later character development and behaviour. Penis envy, a psychoanalytic concept, manifests itself in the patient through her attempt to imitate her brother and her subsequent frustration. This underscores the complexity of the influence of the sexual aspect on personality formation and highlights the importance of addressing these issues in psychological therapy in order to understand and address emotional and behavioural issues effectively.
