Task 1a 1. Contact your partner for CA9. Task 1b 1. Create a new Google document in the GDrive for your group. (Only one document per group) Name your document PAIR XXX, where XXX is the number of your pair from the Partners for CA9 and CA10 document. 2. Create a link to your document on the CA9 and CA10 Partners document. Task 1c 1. In this CA, you will write about a state-of-the-art invention. In the document "Gadgets.pdf," which you can download alongside the guidelines for CA9, you will find a possible list of four modern devices. You and your partner should choose one of them and write a report discussing the advantages and disadvantages of the gadget. Also, if you prefer to look for an interesting modern device of your own, without using any of the examples given in the "Gadgets.pdf" document, you can also select your own example (including the source or website where you found it) or invent one from scratch using your imagination. 2. Pick the gadget you like. On your Google document, make a list of at least three pros and cons about your topic. Use different coloured fonts so it is easy to see who wrote each part. Each partner should pick a different gadget. Read and comment on what your partner has written. Make suggestions about how your partner could improve what he/she has written: adding more information, using more details or examples, using richer language, changing the order of sentences, etc. Remember that this is a collaborative project! Use the comments feature to suggest improvements on what your partner has written. Task 2d 1. One student in the group will be in charge of starting the revision process, while the other will have to edit the final draft and post it to the forum. Decide who will do each part by using the comments feature. Please notice that revision is a very important part of the writing process and must be done carefully. Make suggestions for improvement, language modifications, or any other idea that you think may improve the quality of your work. Focus on grammar, vocabulary, spelling and punctuation. Use the comments feature to suggest improvements on what your partner has written. Make changes based on suggestions from your partner. 2. Check the final report to make sure it looks good (font size, colour, title, etc.) 3. Send a copy of the final report to the CA9_Technology folder on the Forum. • Copy and paste your report into a message. Do not send it as an attachment. • Make sure to use different font colour for each student and to state who each colour represents. • Write a title and list the members of your group in your message. • Send only one copy of your report to the forum. Assessment criteria for CA9 Marks Task completion: completion of the task, length, effective communication, optional tasks and extra work 0 - 5 Organization, coherence and cohesion 0 - 5 Language complexity: variety of vocabulary and grammatical structures 0 - 5 Language accuracy: accurate use of vocabulary and grammar 0 - 5 Total mark __ /20 B1English 6 Optional Speaking Task (4th – 8th December) The extra speaking task is a TANDEM activity. Read the instructions in this document to know how Tandem works: Tandem Task Instructions_Students Your teacher will post further details about it on the Notice Board. 1. Find a partner. You and your partner must be available at the same time and day. You should use the ‘Conversation Club’ folder in the Forum in order to look for a partner. 2. Arrange a date and time for your Tandem optional task. 3. Do the Tandem task that your teacher will have prepared. 4. Remember that the Tandem tool will open 2 tabs in your browser: A Tandem session that will show the Tandem task information and a Videochat session that will video record the conversation with your partner. 5. Once you and your partner reach the end of the Tandem task, check the solution and click ‘Click to finish’. Then, click ‘Click here to close the Videochat session’. 6. Your conversation will be recorded automatically and your teacher will have direct access to it. Post a message on the ‘Conversation Club’ folder letting your teacher know that you completed the task.
