Give a reason/ give reasons: is another way of asking candidates to explain why something happens. Give/ express your view: usually means that the candidate has to write a personal opinion that has to be supported with strong arguments (from theory or the material presented in the exam question). Sometimes it involves choosing between two alternatives. The candidate’s choice is correct if it is supported with strong arguments. Plot a graph: involves drawing a graph on the graph paper printed in the question paper, most of the times candidates need to decide which type of graph has to be drawn (line or bar). What do you understand by: normally implies that a definition should be given together with some relevant comment on the significance or context of the term concerned (the amount of supplementary comment is related to the number of marks) Give arguments for and against: means to provide well supported statements. There should be a balance between both types of arguments to achieve full marks.
