ITALY Italy is a peninsula surrounded by seas: on the east by Adriatic sea on the south-est by Ionian sea on the west by Ligurian sea on the south-west by Tyrrenihan sea on the south by Mediterranean sea On the north there are the Alps, that provide our lands of water and protect Italy from the cold wintd coming from northen Europe and in the north east there are the dolimites. From the north to the south, Italy is crossing by the Appennines which are borded by narrow coast, tall and rocky on the west and sandy on the east. In the north, from the west to the south, there is the Padana Plane, which is the largest in Italy. Italy also includes two major islands: Sicily and Sardinia and other smaller islands, such as: Pantelleria, Eolie, Lampedusa. In Italy there are some beautiful lakes which attract many tourist during the years thanks to the spectacular escenary. In the northen Italy there are some of famous lakes, like: Lake Garda which is the largest of Itay Lake Como Lake Maggiore which is formed by a glaciar VENICE Venice is built on a 100 islands situated in the marshy Venetian Lagoon in the northeastern Italy and it is the chief-town of Veneto Region. This city has a humid subtropical climate with cold winters and very warm summers, because of this the best season to go there, is on spring. To get there: Marco Polo Airport To move around the city: you walk or take a boat, because the only access for vehicles is the Ponte della Libertà Venice’s public transportation system uses 3 types of boats: Vaporetti (water buses) Motoscafi (water taxis) Gondola Venice is the home of romance in Italy with its suggestive landscapes, it has a rich culture and it host some of the most beautiful places of art in Italy. It is probably the most elegant and refined city in Europe. In this city you could see: St. Mark Square: which is the principal public square of Venice where there is the Basilica of St. Mark, there tourist can climb the Clock Tower and admire the landscape from the panoramic balcony The Ca’d’Oro: which is, nowadays, a museum The Ducal Palace: which is a palace built in a Venetian Gothic style and it’s one of the main landmarks of the city The Correr Museum: with its rich collections, it’s covers the art and the history of Venice Other popular islands in the lagoon are Murano, famous for the glass-blowing industry and Torcello. Some of Venice’s famous events can almost be called landmarks, such as: The Carnival, the best known of these when the mystery of the city is integrated by the exotic fancy dresses worn by partecipants The International Film Festival which is the oldest international film festival in the world
