To commemorate him the population put his body in a boat and left it into the sea. Then Beow became king and had a son, Halfdane, father of Hrothgar, who decided to built a mead-hall called Heorot. One day Grendel, a monster, enter the hall and attacked thirty men: but he returned every night after. The men made offerings to pagan Gods, but with no results. A group of warriors heard about the monster and with a ship they arrived on the Hrothgar's land. Then a guard brought them to the king, and in the travel they saw the beauty hall. Second Act Inthis act we discoverthe name of the brave warrior who will fight Grendel: Beowulf. He went to the king, who knew his father, and ask if he could do a endeavour of killing the monster that attacked the mead-hall. The king thought that that guy was sent by God and so he agreed with Beowulf, he and Beowulf's men drank together before they went to the hall to wait for Grendel. But before that, Unferth (a friend of the king) talk with Beowulf but he was very jealous of him and so he attacked him with words, but Beowulf wasn't moved by that. Third Act At the start all the men were sleeping except for Beowulf. Then arrived Grendel and the warrior wait for him in the shadows, the monster turned towards the place where Beowulf was. The guy blocked the Grendel's arm and he want to escape, but Beowulf kept his iron grip. The others men tried to kill the monster with swords but they didn't hurt him. When he was about to die he escape in his lair. The king and men from all over the land arrived to see what Beowulf had done. The king give to him and his men many treasures and saddles. Fourth Act This act start with a story narrated by a poet about a battle between Frisinians and the Danes. Then the king give to Beowulf mead and other treasures and then he left the hall. The Grendel's mother that night went to the hall and took with her one of the king's closest friends. Beowulf wasn't in the hall, then was called by the king who said him what happened. Beowulf and his men decided to avenge the man taken and to go to the swamps. There there were dragons and serpents in the water, after the men killed one of them, Beowulf spoke to the king. Fifth Act Beowulf wanted to kill Grendel's mother so he went to her lair, he tried to cut her head with his sword but that didn't break her skin. Then the monster pushed Beowulf down and tried to kill him with a sword, but his armour protected him. Then the hero saw Eoten's sword and with it killed Grendel's mother and could cut offthe Grendel's head.
