Let’s start by looking at the advantages of bilingual education. First of all, according to experts a bilingual education improves brain activity: several studies show that bilingualism has positive effects on children's brains, which are able to adapt better to the surrounding environment. It develops problem solving skills: the habit of relating in two languages allows the minds of children to face changes without fear and seek new solutions; It allows you to learn other languages more easily: the bilingual child naturally develops a deeper knowledge of the linguistic structure It promotes attention and concentration: bilingual education requires continually exercising selective attention, further developing the ability to concentrate; It increases empathy: several studies have shown that children who speak multiple languages have greater empathy and respect for the differences of others; It stimulates creativity: bilingual education stimulates the child's creative thinking and dexterity. According to research by Psychology Today, being bilingual is one of the skills most requested by large companies and bilingual workers are even able to earn 20% more than those who only refer to their mother tongue. Moreover, the parents said that raising a bilingual child who can speak the languages of his family and friends abroad helps keep family relationships and friends alive traditions that are handed down. But bilingual education is still viewed with distrust today due to the false myths created over the years. If I may quote one of the most popular, “Bilingual children mix languages, get confused and don't learn either language well ". It means that children, speaking two or more languages, might get confused or not know any of them thoroughly. And again, according to some, learning two languages requires excessive effort, with an impact on the level of cognitive development. A further drawback is that a bilingual education is very expensive, so it’s something that many families just can’t do. In conclusion, the pros and the cons of a bilingual education show us that it can be a foot in the door for the next generation. Personally, I am in favour of it because it will benefit the students, so it makes sense to include it in their student curriculum .
