He is the protagonist of the novel “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” its sequel, “Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator”. The first one was written in 1964 and the second one in the 1972. About these two books were based three films: two about “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” (one in 1971 and one in 2005) and one about “Charlie and the Glass Elevator” (in 2012). In the first story he lives in poverty in a tiny house with his parents and four grandparents. One day he discovers that the newspaper announces that Willy Wonka, who is a legendary and eccentric chocolatier, is reopening the factory and has invited five children to come on a tour, after they find a golden ticket in a Wonka Bar. He finds one of the ticket for pure luck, after finding some money lying in the street and buying himself a Wonka Bar. The ticket says he can only bring one family member with him to the factory and Charlie decides to take Grandpa Joe. After meeting Willy Wonka the other four children and he visits the factory with him. During this tour The other kids are eject from the factory in comical, mysterious and painful fashions. Charlie, that doesn’t have the same vices of the other children because his poverty taught him to be satisfied with even a few things, is the only one that remains. Willy Wonka congratulates him after explaining the reason behind his golden tickets appointed heir of his factory, where Charlie moves with the entire family and helps Mr. Wonka to invent new desserts. To go there hey ride a great glass elevator to Charlie’s house to recover the other members of his family; the second book talks about this journey. In these stories but mainly in the first one Charlie is shown to have strong moral character in contrast to the rest of the children who visit Willy Wonka's factory. He is also most sensible of the five kids in the factory. This is seen by the fact that he doesn't consume loads of gum or chocolate. He is satisfied with the material things he already possesses, is not jealous or envious of what others have or possess, and is not addicted to television. He is seemingly kind
