Millions of boys and girls work: instead they should go to school, play, have time to rest and instead work hard in the fields, in the dumps, on the road, wherever there are opportunities to earn something to help themselves and their family survive. Child labour is still wide spread also because of globalization in those so called developing countries such as Asia, Africa and South America: in fact according to estimates these regions host about 90% all minors working the planet. Unicef and other humanitarian organization focus on programs to eliminate child labour. Writers such as Charlies Dickens and Giovanni Verga spoke about this theme. Dickens spoke in the novel Bleak house about a homeless man named JO, who tries to make a living as a scavenger in London. And spoke in Oliver Twist which expressed his hanger at the living conditions of the poor and the inquiry of the Poor Law of 1834. In the Victorian age poverty was seen as a sin. Giovanni Verga with Rosso Malpelo, talks about this guy who works in a quarry to earn a living for himself and his family and who is abused because he had red hair, which was a symbol of malice. Rosso Malpelo describes the reality of poverty and child labour soffered by the disadvantaged classes in Sicily at the end of the nineteenth century, a reality that Verga knew
