Decamerone Selvaggio Since the start of this new pandemic many things have changed.one could say the whole world has changed, but in this change, we can see some similitudes between us and the people of other times. In Italy, this pandemic hit hard, but at the start of it, before anything big had happened on of the biggest singer and entertainer of Italy had an idea. His artist’s name is Fedez, real name Federico Lucia, and with a youtuber called Luis started a podcast on YouTube, in one of the episodes just before lockdown they recreated the condition of the Decameron and reunited eleven different people to tell stories. Like he says “thanks to the coronavirus the Triennale di Milano, that normally is full of people since is one of the most famous museum of Italy, is close to the public, opened only for us today as a special occasion. We take inspiration from the famous Decameron, and like the characters that take refuge in the Tuscany countryside from the plague, telling each other’s stories. We take advantage of the Triennale to teel you ours.” In this video, called “savage Decameron” the new “characters” are mostly celebrities, singers, entertainers, comedians, and internet celebrities, similar to the Decameron where the characters were from the upper class. The stories that they are going to tell are mostly scandalous with the intent of distracting, entertaining and amusing the public in those difficult times. There are two stories that | would like to talk about, one is a funny story about a man anda leg, and the other is a more poetic one about childhood. This first story is told by Luis, he is a famous youtuber and one of the owners of this podcast. He stars telling his story saying” | was in bed with my, at the time, girlfriend and | said you know If | had the possibility, | would like to eat a leg.” From the perspective of the girlfriend, | can see why she was shocked, but then Luis explains his points “I knew about a man in America that after a really bed crash with his motorcycle had to have his leg amputated. Since in America you can get your limbs back after they are amputated, he decided that he would invite his friends for dinner and and serve leg meet tacos as the main dish, obviously with his friend consenting. And after | heard about this crazy story, | always thought that | would do the same if | had the opportunity.” This story sadly ends with the two breaking up because the girlfriend was so shocked about this revelation that she did not want to stay in a relationship with him anymore. We can hear the other comment on this story saying “just from that | totally forgot the pandemic” in a funny manner. And this was exactly the objective that Boccaccio and our today's protagonist had in mind, listening to such absurd, heartfelt, crazy, or passioned stories that one would completely forget about the pandemic. The second and more serious story we are going to analyze today is told by the perspective of a man called martin, he works in the entertainment world and write some poetry. the story starts in summer many years ago in the countryside where he always went when he was little, he says that there were not any children other than him, so he was always reading books and comics, and his favorite talked about moon aliens and rockets.
