MIAMI Miami is a city of 470 thousand citizens of Unite State of America, capital of Miami- Dade in Florida. Is the second city of Florida, but the urban zone is ore popular as a whole it is by far the most populated of the state. Miami was officially founded as a city on July 27, 1896, with a population of about 400 inhabitants. According to the 2000 census, the city had a population of 362 thousand inhabitants, while the vast metropolitan area had a total of over 2 million. In 2006, the population registered by the U.S. Census Bureau rose to 404 thousand inhabitants. The city is often confused with Miami Beach, although it's a distinct municipality. The population explosion of Miami in recent years has been determined by immigration, both from abroad and from other cities in the United States. Miami is located on the southeastern coast of the State of Florida. It's one of the smallest of the major cities in the United States. Its urban area is located roughly between the Little River to the north, extending beyond the Miami River to the south, overlooking the Bay of Biscayne to the east and bordering the Everglades to the west. The Miami River is a Florida river that drains water from the Everglades and flows towards Downtown in the city of Miami. The 8.9 km long river runs from the Miami Canal terminus at Miami International Airport to Biscayne Bay. Miami is characterized by a tropical climate with particularly rainy summer for quite frequent and intense afternoon thunderstorms and exposed at the risk of hurricanes. The winter months are characterized by lower rainfall. Activities The Miami Seaquarium is a 15-hectare city park on the island of Virginia Key in the Bay of Biscayne (near Downtown Miami) which houses a dolphinarium where performances of trained animals are also held. The park has about 225 employees and is the third largest contributor to Miami-Dade County. Coral Castle is a limestone architectural structure designed in Homestead, Florida, by Edward Leedskalnin, a Latvian national amateur sculptor from the United States. The structure consists of large blocks of stone worked and carved in the form of walls, large tables and chairs, bas-reliefs and a large tower. Since 1984 it is a monument included in the US National Register of Historic Places The Bass Museum of Art is a contemporary art museum located in Miami Beach Elorida in the United States. The Bass reopened to the public on October 29, 2017 after closing for renovations in 2015. During renovations, The Bass Projects operated a temporary exhibition space at the Miami Beach Regional Library (227 22nd Street). Ul The Bass Museum of Art was founded in 1964 through the donation of a private collection by John and Johanna Bass to the City of Miami Beach. The museum opened in what was formerly the Miami Beach Public Library and Art Center, a 1930s Art Deco building designed by Russell Pancoast, grandson of Miami Beach pioneer John Collins. The building was placed on the National Register in 1978. Jungle Island is a zoo. Where there are a lot of animals. There is an arena where you can watch shows with fauna from different countries, such as reptiles and penguins. Other animal performances take place at the Parrot Bowl (mainly birds) and at the Serpentarium (with small cats). The Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) is an art museum. lt was founded in 1984 as a center of fine arts, and in 1996 it became the Miami Art Museum, dedicating itself to contemporary art. it take a loto f painters. National parks Miami Beach is the only city in the United States to border two different national parks: the Biscayne National Park and Everglades National Park, rich in fauna and flora and where you can participate in many sports activities. Museums In Miami there are many museums and places dedicated to art: the MoCa (temple of Contemporary Art), the Barbara Gillman Gallery (design and classical paintings and emerging artists), MAM (Modern and Contemporary Art), Miami's Wynwood Art District (with about seventy museums, art galleries and collections), Ocean Drive
