AGENDA 20/30 ➝ The Sustainable Development AgendA This agenda contains 17 universal sustainable goals which should be solved in 10 years. The UN Secretary-General called on all sectors of society to mobilize for a decade of action on three levels: global action to secure greater leadership, local action and people action. These goal are: 1. no poverty 10. reduce inequality 2. zero hunger 11. sustainable cities and communities 3. good health 12. responsible consumption and production 4. quality education 13. climate action 5. gender equality 14. life below water 6. clean water 15. life on land 7. clean energy 16. peace, justice and strong institutions 8. economic growth 17. partnership for the goals 9. industry innovation This Agenda also talks about: ⇝ DISABILITY ⇜ One of these goals aims in fact to protect the rights of persons with disabilities to not be discriminated against or abandoned by society; These persons have the right to be part of social life like everyone else. The 10 year strategy set out three main points: - People with disabilities have the same right as other EU citizens to move another country; - People with disabilities have the same right to live independently and choose where and with whom they want to live; - People with disabilities have the same right to access employment, political, justice, sports, turism, culture and education just like everyone else. ⇝ GENDER INEQUALITY ⇜ In the UE men are more likely to work in a more demanding physical environment and have worse working hours than women, but are usually better paid. In addition, women in the workplace are much more likely to be exposed to adverse social behavior, such as verbal abuse or harassment. ⇝ GREEN PAPER ON AGING ⇜ The purpose of this green paper is to launch a broad policy debate on aging; The green paper takes a life-cycle approach that reflects the universal impact of aging and focuses on both the personal and wider societal implications of aging. These paper focuses on healthy and active aging and lifelong learning, both of which work best when they start at an early age: - The first one is about a correct balance between movement and nutriment - The second one is about investing in people's knowledge, skills and competence acquired throughout their lives and improving the continued learning in later life which may help prevent cognitive decline related to old age.
