Social and civic competences are those principles on which the personal capacity for a correct coexistence with others is based. Civic responsibility can include participation in government, church, volunteers, and membership in voluntary associations. Civic responsibility actions can be demonstrated in defense of various causes, such as political, economic, civil, environmental or quality of life issues. Every citizen has the duty to respect the rules imposed by the constitution of his own State but the State, in turn, must respect the rights of the individual citizen such as the right to freedom of expression and thought, whether this is written or expressed with words, or through media and social media or the right to freedom of worship and therefore to profess the religion he prefer. I think that not only is it important to teach civic education in schools but that it’s a right of children to be informed about their rights and obligations towards the state. Bringing civic education to schools is the first step in introducing children to a society that deserves to be respected but which doesn’t always respect its duties and only by knowing their rights, the women and men of the future will be able to gain respect.
