Globalization is favoured by the ending of trade barriers (barriere commerciali), the free movement of capital, cheap transport (trasporto economico) and the use of electronic systems of communication as the internet. Globalization brought to new jobs in new industrial areas (China, India). It also created job dislocation (dislocazione), companies move from a country to another, in which there are low labour costs (basso costo del lavoro). These caused unemployment (disoccupazione) or the reduction of wages (salari). In addition, machines replace (sostituiscono) humans, and so some jobs disappear. With globalization freelance (libero professionista) and self-employed jobs (lavoro autonomo) developed. The rise (nascita) of the Gig Economy was affected (influenzata) by high rates (alti tassi) of unemployment and millennial workers. The Gig economy is a labour market (mercato del lavoro) that presents short term contracts (contratti a breve termine) which mean precarious work (lavoro precario). In a gig economy, companies save (risparmiano) money because they don't have to rent (affittare) offices or employ supervisors (assumere supervisori). Workers are pressured (costretti) to work when the company needs them, their holidays are not paid and in some cases they don't receive the minimum wage (salario minimo).
