Istituti Paritari G.Falcone Aurora Bianco V A linguistico Inglese The female condition between 800 and 900 The woman of the nineteenth century is a woman who becomes more autonomous, worked in the home, in the factory and participated in the various revolutions. During the 19th century, ideas on education and civil rights were continued by Helen Taylor, who was among the conquerors of the women's suffrage movement in England. During this period women worked in the fields and factories and with the advent of textile machines women became labours and great strength in the textile field. They fought for economic improvements (always lower than that of men) but above all they worked for a law that protected women's work. They also moved to achieve an emancipation that was in step with democratic evolution. In 900 the condition of women in Europe, which is probably the most advanced area in the world, remained very harsh. Whether she was a peasant, worker, bourgeois or noble, the woman was strongly subordinated to the man: she did not have the same rights, she was kept apart, She could not vote, in many cases she was not asked in the choice of her husband and badly viewed if she dared to lead a life even minimally free. To fight for women in recent years there is Emmeline Pankhurst, who created at the beginning of 900 a movement called the Suffragettes. They asked for the vote for women, but it was only partially successful but at least raised this huge problem. The state of Wyoming, United States, was the first in the world to grant women the vote in 1879; in England in 1911 and in the European states was granted decades later.
