Women who rose their Voices Michelle Obama The former First Lady defended women's rights before and during her career of her stay in the White House, using her ability to influence. In addition to filling her speeches with ideas that claim the role of women in society, she introduced the State of Women, a campaign that defends these rights and deals with issues such as injustice in the world of work or gender-based violence. Meryl Streep, Oprah Winfrey and Kerry Washington have also taken part of the initiative. Kamala Harris Vice President of the United States, first woman in this role, first African American, first Indian American, she is a more than convinced feminist. When she gave her first speech as vice president USA, she did it wearing a white suit, in honor of the battle of the suffragettes (movement of female emancipation born between the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century for women's rights). In her first speech, Harris emphasised that she was the first woman in her role, but certainly not the last, sending a message of hope to future generations of young women, of all ethnicities. Anna Maria Mozzoni Civil rights activist and pioneer of Italian feminism, the journalist Anna Maria Mozzoni dedicated her whole life to the fight against gender injustice, writing books on the subject and siding against the retrograde ideas of some conservatives such as Mazzini and Proudhon. She also did her utmost for the recognition of the right to vote at women, the right to education, access to the profession and jobs. Malala Yousafzai At 15, she became the symbol of resistance to the Taliban extremists and is, to date, the youngest winner of the Nobel Peace Prize. Her struggle is focused on granting all girls the right to study. Malala is convinced that the extremists are afraid of the women who receive an education, because they become aware of their own worth and abilities. She strongly believes that education is the means by which change and equality can be achieved in society.
