ESSAY: MACBETH THE TRAGEDY OF AMBITION (219 words) Ambition without mind control can bring people to lose their sight of reality, an example that makes us thinking about this topic is Macbeth’s tragedy. Despite Macbeth is a brave man who goes against violence and bad actions to satisfy his ambition to become the king, he decides to kill the king of Scotland: Duncan. Macbeth is encouraged by his wife, much more ambitious than him and confident of their plan in order to kill the king. Macbeth’s ambition is born from the prophecy of the three witches, who predict he will become the king of Scotland. Although Lady Macbeth pushes her husband to the murder of the king, she can’t bear the consequences. When Lady Macbeth and Macbeth become queen and king, their conscience can’t resist the remorse, transforming their lives into a real nightmare with the appearance of ghosts, fears and nightmares. Moreover, Macbeth’s ambition forces him to kill again to cover up his previous crimes, in addiction to that, he kills his friend Banquo to achieve his aim. The consequences of Macbeth’s ambition lead to the death of innocent people, but also to his life; in fact, Macbeth doesn’t take the power of the kingdom. At the end of the tragedy, the King’s son Malcolm becomes the king, Macbeth dies and his ambition is buried with him.
