But is travelling only a ritual to escape from your ordinary life? Does it just coincide with a relaxing time? Well, if you believe that travelling is just that, you are travelling in a passive way. Travelling can be good for you and your life in different ways but not everybody is conscious of that. In fact, most of the travellers go around with the attitude of a tourist, they just watch, stare at places, they just take pictures, but is this why you travel for? Just to see and take pictures? No, this is not what travelling means. When you travel you need to feel part of what you are visiting, you must feel how your mind changes when you are surrounded by new places, new people, new cultures and, most important, you learn to respect them. Here you realise that something that is normal or usual for you isn't so for someone living one the other face of the world. Furthermore, visiting new places provides you with a benchmark that helps you in appreciating your everyday reality. You start seeing everything with new eyes. “Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving” writes Terry Pratchett in his book “A Hat Full of Sky”. This is true because if you never leave home, you'll never miss it because if you are never deprived of what you have, you'll never understand how precious it is for you. Even if | haven't travelled so often, | have experienced many of the feelings that traveling arouses you. | have felt a stranger in my country so many times but now it is different, | feel now cosmopolite: | don't belong just to a country or a culture | belong to the whole world. Concluding | want to say that every new experience teaches you something new and travelling is the best example of it.
