It's evening. The room where she is situated is full of dusty. Because of that fight Eveline accepted to leave home and to go to Buenos Aires with Frank. Now they had to meet secretly. • The sound of the street organ reminds her of the night that her mother died and how her father had paid a street organ player to move off and how he had cursed all foreigners. • She sees her mother’s life as a life of commonplace sacrifices closing in final craziness. • Eveline is caught between past and future. • She must escape, because if she remains in Ireland she perceives only terror. • frank represents her rescue. *** 1) the sound of the street organ can be considered as the epiphany of this story; Eveline remembers her promise to her mother, so she understand that she can not leave her home.
