As a graduate of Modern Languages I have particular interest in both translation and Arts. My dissertation, “Syria through Abdalla Al Omari’s eyes”, focuses on the relationship between visual art and the contemporaneity of the above-mentioned Arabic country, by underlining the difficult situation the nation is living and what art can do with its visual power to attack war and a corrupted society. Research was conducted alongside Professor Hiba and Professor Fastelli at Florence University. I chose this topic because I am really interested in investigating society through art and foreign cultures and languages. My experiences, which are highlighted on the enclosed CV, include working alongside Professor Hiba as Teaching Assistant at Florence University and working for the Contemporary Art Gallery: “Building Bridges Between Our Divisions” in Pistoia since September. During the period I was working with Professor Hiba, I was responsible for many aspects concerning Arabic and English translation, the organization of conferences and the editing of documents, images and presentations for students’ lessons. As far as concern the Contemporary Art Gallery, I was supposed to manage exhibitions alongside groups of experts and arrange meetings with young emerging artists.
