This gothic novel was written to scare people, and it is about a scientist who tries to defeat death by giving life to a creature made up of parts of corpses. In this story we can find many pain element, one of the most relevant is the pain of the monster who since the beginning of his life was always rejected because of his ugly and awful appearance. The other element, is when Victor finds that his wife was killed. Since the very beginning of the story, when Victor was only a kid, he writes about his love for her and how she is the only woman to understand him. Throughout his life he wasn’t able to make any friends apart from Henry and his cousin Elizabeth. So why was Elizabeth killed? The monster because of his loneliness wants a lover but when he asks the scientist to make another monster, he rejects his request. So the monster swears revenge of his creator. He kills all the people that he loves, and for the last part of his revenge he kills Elizabeth, Victor’s new wife. When the scientist finds the dead body of his lover, he is unable to tolerate the shock so he collapses for the pain. All the people that he loved are all killed by the monster, but when he kills Victor’s lover he becomes even weaker due to the immense pain.
